A Labor Day After Thought...
The kids are back in school. Let us parents bow our heads in a moment of silence… and take a deep breath. Try not to smile too big while exhaling, it only makes you look like a crazy person.
Every parent knows the joys of getting your bits of free time back from the sticky, needy hands of your spawn. That was a little harsh, cute lil' spawn, better.
What we don’t always hear, talk, and/or cry about is the mess that our little angels have made of the house and our schedules. Instead, we watch as they busy themselves with taking on new challenges and making friends, while we try to remember the sweet spot of the chaotic Zen that is life.
It takes about a week, but somehow we start to pull it all together. The house is clean and the back to school’s million and one papers are signed. That’s just the broad strokes, not including work and etc. Just when you start to really enjoy the kids being educated and otherwise detained, another holiday smacks us in the head, Labor Day.
I’m not saying I don’t enjoy the family fun infused with delicious food. But now I have to switch my thinking to a dish bigger than my regular two-step meal plans. Hey, we’re in a no judging zone. Anywho, luckily my Mom has given me the perfect dish and since you didn’t judge me, I’ll share.
This culinary jewel has been the talk of many family and friend gatherings!
